Mid-Year Update!

2008 has, so far, been an amazing year for us, with prestigious performances and workshops across the UK.  Through June and July we have been performing and/or teaching at events every weekend.  At the end of July we are, once again, performing at Planet Egypt and August will see us travelling to Oxfordshire for the Artemis Gatheirng and performing at Saqarah, a monthly bellydance showcase in London which will be celebrating it's first anniversary during this month.

In September, Sarah and Deana will be travelling to Gloucestershire to teach a 4 hour ATS workshop - for details of this, check out the Events page!

Our big month is in October:  Sarah is hosting Carolena Nericcio and Megha Gavin for their Tribal:Pura event in Glastonbury.  Places for these workshops are very much in demand and the event actually sold out in June!  ATS enthusiasts are still enquiring about getting a place and a reserve list has been started - though its very unlikely anyone will drop out of this special event!  During this time Carolena will also be teaching her General Skills and Teacher Training courses to a select few who applied.  This means that by then end of 2008 there will be lots of new teachers who will be qualified to teach pure American Tribal Style Bellydance - very exciting :-)

In November Sarah and Dean will be teaching at Tribal Vibe and they, along with other members of the troupe, will also be performing at this event.  And in December, there will be a repeat performance of thise at Fantasia, the annual event organised by Josephine Wise.

This year has also seen many new faces joining our beautifu tribe and several debute performances - a big WELL DONE to all those who have stepped out for the first time this year!!  Tribe of Kismet now averages at around 13 dancers at full capacity!!

Check back later in the year for more news.....

Kismet School of Bellydance - Newsletter, December 2007

Well, here we are, almost at the end of yet another year!  And what a wonderful and exciting year it has been!

For me, the highlight of the year was gaining certification in American Tribal Style bellydance from its creator, Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance, San Francisco.  What made the whole experience even more exciting was that she made me her UK representative!  This has opened up some very exciting doors not just for myself, but for our ATS group Tribe of Kismet - more on that later!

The summer saw the usual round of fetes and festivals, both for Kismet and Tribe of Kismet.  More of the experienced students have started performing professionally.  Some of the cabaret girls are now performing at our regular slot at Asia Spice in Basildon, and we all made our debut at Planet Egypt, London's premier bellydance showcase.

In September, Deana, one the principle dancers with Tribe of Kismet, started a new ATS class in Basildon, helping me to officially launch The Kismet School of Bellydance.  Look out for new classes, cabaret and tribal, starting in other areas in the new year....

October saw our lovely Sarah H giving birth to her beautiful daughter Jessica Mae - both are doing well, and we look forward to seeing Sarah back dancing next year!  Congratulations to Sarah and Baz!

As for next year - I think we are in for an exciting time!

In January, some of the professional dancers with Kismet will be attending workshops with world renowned dancer Aziza - something we are all thoroughly looking forward to!  We have been invited back to Planet Egypt at the end of January - we are there again in July visit www.planetegypt.co.uk for more details - we would love to see you there supporting us!

I will be teaching an ATS workshop at Tribalondon 8 to 10 February  - a weekend of tribal bellydance organised by the world famous Bellydance SuperstarsDeana and I will also be performing in their show - a great honour and something we are both very excited about.  For more details of this event visit www.tribalondon.co.uk

On 23rd February, Tribe of Kismet will be performing in the Jewels of the Nile show in Luton.

Kismet and Tribe of Kismet already have several bookings for next Summer and there is a possibility of a VERY special performance....watch this space!

In October, my ATS master, Carolena Nericcio, will be back in the UK as I host her Tribal:Pura workshop in Glastonbury - there will also be opportunities for dancers to study intensively with her for General Skills and Teacher certification during her stay.  And this is only the beginning!  There will be much much more to come!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their love and support during 2007 and to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Healthy New Year, full of love and friendship.

With much love from

Sarah

and all at Kismet Bellydance

Sarah H has baby!

The lovely Sarah H (pictured left with her bump and below with her beautiful daughter), one of Kismet's professional dancers, gave birth to a beautiful new tribal sister on Friday 19th October 2007!  Congratulations to Sarah and Baz on the birth of Jessica Mae from all the Kismet girls!

Sarah Gets Certified!

Sarah, director of Tribe of Kismet has now received certification from Carolena Nericcio, the founder of ATS, in the FatChanceBellyDance format.

During her training, Sarah was asked by Carolena to act as her UK representative.  This is a role which Sarah is very proud to to have been given and one which she will endeavour to fulfil to the best of her ability.

In this capacity, Sarah's role is: to organise and co-ordinate all of Carolena's trips to the UK; to develop a network of teachers with FCBD certification throughout the UK in order to make FCBD format classes accessible to all; to create a central 'hub' for all things FCBD in the UK which will promote any events, workshops and classes offering ATS tuition in the FCBD format.

One of the first events Sarah is organising is a Tribal:Pura event for 2008 - more details to come shortly!

During her 2008 visit to the UK Carolena will also be offering a General Skills Certification course and her NEW Teacher Training certification.  To qualify for GS training you must have experience in some sort of tribal belly dance.  A dance bio or an in-person conversation is also required.  For teacher training, you must have completed the GS certification.

If you are interested in GS training and/or teacher training, or if you have any questions about FatChanceBellyDance format classes in the UK, please contact Sarah for details.
